We had an amazing time on the mob and crime tour in Chicago with Jay as our guide. She was absolutely incredible—engaging, knowledgeable, and full of great stories. We learned so much while still having a ton of fun, thanks to her energy and enthusiasm. I highly recommend Jay and this tour to anyone visiting Chicago or looking to dive deeper into the city’s history!

Fun tour, only minor gripe is the lights were on in the bus during the night time tour so it was hard getting pictures from the bus. Minor issue though because we enjoyed it overall.

Great tour! I’m a total true crime junkie and history buff, so this was the best of both worlds. Really great facts about not only some of Chicago’s more notorious gangsters, but some lesser known tales of local crime and lore. Our tour guide Ethan was not only seamlessly knowledgeable, but the tour was filled with great (and simultaneously awful) crime-themed dad jokes and fun energy. I would hands down recommend this as a fun way to spend a few hours in the Chicago area.

I highly recommend this tour! Its a must must for history and true crime buffs! This hop-on, hop-off tour visited the most storied areas of Chicago's crime history. The tour guides are well informed and have lots of stories to tell!! The highlight for me was visiting the Biograph Theater where John Dillinger met his end on the front sidewalk.

The only thing that wasn’t great about the tour was that it was hard to hear the tour guide when the bus was moving, because it was so squeaky. We had some cool stops and learned a lot about Dillinger, Bugs, Capone, the Tylenol murders, HH Holmes and more. There were 2 stops (I wish there were more) and no official bathroom break or bathrooms on the bus, so go beforehand.

Stay safe and secure
Stick with the tour group at all times, especially during stops. Venturing off alone, even for a short time, could put you at risk in unfamiliar neighborhoods.
Pay attention to the tour guide's instructions regarding safe areas and routes. They know the local environment and can offer valuable safety advice.
Avoid displaying expensive jewelry or electronics prominently during the tour, as this could make you a target for petty theft, particularly in crowded areas.
If you plan on taking photos, be quick and mindful of your surroundings. Don't get so absorbed in capturing the perfect shot that you lose awareness of what's happening around you.
Be wary of engaging with strangers who approach you during stops, especially if they seem overly friendly or persistent. It's best to politely decline and stay with the group.
Pro traveler secrets
Consider the time of day for your tour. Daytime tours generally offer better visibility and a safer experience compared to nighttime tours, especially in some of the less desirable areas.
Check reviews of different tour companies offering similar themes. Focus on reviews that mention the quality of the guide and their knowledge of Chicago crime history.
Ask your tour guide for recommendations on other historical sites or museums related to Chicago's crime history that you can visit independently after the tour.
Wear comfortable shoes, as you might be doing some walking during the tour stops. Chicago weather can be unpredictable, so dress accordingly.
Pack some snacks and water, as the tour might not provide frequent opportunities to purchase refreshments. This will help you stay comfortable and focused throughout the experience.
